Now on tap: Fragrance refills at Shoppers

Shoppers Drug Mart^® has teamed up with L'Oréal Canada to bring something exciting to beauty in Canada: the first-ever multi-brand fragrance refill fountain. This new service is being offered in select BeautyBOUTIQUE by Shoppers Drug Mart^TM locations across the country and includes customer favourites like Lancôme Idôle, Giorgio Armani Acqua di Giò and Prada Paradoxe.

The idea is simple: instead of buying a new bottle of your favourite L’Oreal fragrance, you can bring your empty one to a location with a fountain and easily refill it. Depending on the location, there are either six or eight fragrance slots.

Not only does the refill station use 83% less glass, but customers can also save up to 25% when they choose to refill instead of purchasing new. “We’re delivering value to our customers while being environmentally conscious at the same time,” says Leith Sinker, VP, Prestige Beauty. “It’s a responsible way to enjoy luxury, and we’re excited to be the first to bring this to Canadians.”

This new service also gives customers an enticing reason to visit us in person. “In an age of online shopping, we want to offer a special experience only available in-store,” says Leith. “It creates a moment of interest and excitement and an opportunity to engage with the product. There is storytelling behind these fragrances.” Beauty team members, who received exclusive training on the fountain and featured fragrances, are the storytellers, offering insight into each unique scent.

There’s another reason to feel good about refilling. For every refill purchased, L'Oréal Canada will plant a tree in the Northwest Territories. As for the future of the program, Leith says the team is excited to see how customers enjoy this new experience, and their response will help inform whether it expands to additional store locations.
